Presented by Nathan V. Fawaz (They/Them), Stronghold, our first and most essential point of agency in our lives relates to how we tell the stories of our experiences: their origins, their unfolding, their impact, and their ongoing, radiating effects. This workshop will centre around the simple narrative tool of applying active voice in self- and community-narration. How our stories are told to and through allies is important in terms of determining access to resources and supports, as well as in terms of access to acceptance and inclusion. This workshop will help allies understand the power of their language in standing between the 2SLGBTQ+ community and administrative violence, as well as how the language used by allies can increase access to all manner of life chances for community members. . Nathan is a community member, and has recently shifted from being more in a participatory role to more of a co-creative role in terms of my community involvement.
